Starmap

Starmap is one of these apps that was created specifically for astronomers. It is also good for anyone who just likes gazing at the stars and who wants to know what they are looking at. It is basically a whole planetarium in the palm of your hand.

It features 350,000 visible stars and 200 main stars complete with details such as their names and the kind of star that they are. It also has 150 galaxies and nebulae. It helps you to observe the stars with both intelligence and understanding.

Planetarium

This app is called the most advanced version of a Solar System simulation that you can get for the iPhone. It is also an app of this type that lets you move freely because it possesses an advanced positioning system. It has over 27,000 stars to give the amateur astronomer an extremely accurate picture of the night sky. It even has all the major moons.

Star Walk

The Star Walk app is another planetarium in your hand. It can begin by zeroing in on your current location to make its imaging of the sky above you even easier. All you have to do is drag your finger across the screen to reposition the picture, to zoom in on certain constellations, or to investigate other celestial bodies.
